  牛津版9A What should I do?

  Goodafternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I am NO.4 .Today I’m going to talk about the topic” What should I do?”I will divide my presentation into seven parts, they are the analysis of teaching material,teaching aims, teaching proceduresand so on.

  Part 1Teaching material

  First of all,I’dlike to talk about my understanding about this lesson.Thislessonis taken from Unit 3 of 9A Oxford English. We have learned some basic English knowledge before, besides, students have accumulated enough life experience, so it will be rather easy for them to learn this lessen well.

  Part 2 Students

  Students in Junior highschool have learned English for just few years, they have mastered some basic simple English knowledge, but it is still very difficult for them to put what they have learned into daily use.So some communicative activities will be designed to help to practice their oral English.

  Part 3 Teaching aims

  Based on the analysis above and the New Curriculum Standard. I set three teaching aims as follows.

  KnowledgeAims:

  (1)Students canknow the spelling of some words and usage of some phrases.

  (2)Students willlearn something about Millie’s and Simon’s problems.

  (3)Students are able tograsp the main idea of Reading and use the information to talk toothers about one’s problems and how to deal with them.

  Ability Aims:

  (1)Students can improve the ability of getting information by reading.

  (2)Students willimprove the ability of retelling the story.

  Emotional Aims:

  (1)They canunderstand how to write about problems and to express feelings.

  (2)Students canask for advice to solve the problems.

  Part 4 Teaching Key& Difficult points

  Torecognize and understand vocabulary about problems.

  Part 5Teaching methods

  In thistopic,I will use five-step Teaching Method and Task-based language Teaching.Idesign some tasks to help the students learn.I think if I want to improve theiroral English,I should give them enough chances to practice and Iwill use pair work,group work to let the students take an active part in allkinds of activities.That is “Learning by doing,learningby using”.Let the students be the masters of the classteaching,thus,student-centered teaching method is well shown.

  Part 6 Teaching procedures

  Now, let’s focus on the most important part of my presentation, teaching procedures.

  Step Ⅰ.Lead-in

  At the start of the lesson, I will have a free talk with students. They can talk about some problems they have in their daily life and try to give solutions. The purposewhy I do this activity is to arouse the students’interest of study.

  Step Ⅱ.Pre-reading

  In this step, to help students develop their predicting ability, I will ask them to predict the main content of this lesson.

  Step Ⅲ.While-reading

  Fast reading

  Here are two tasks in all. First I will ask students to read two letters and answer the following questions:

  ①Whatis Millie’s favorite hobby?(Painting)

  ②Whatis Millie’s problem?(She doesn’thave enough time for hobbies and home work.)

  ③Whendoes Simon play football?(After school until late)

  ...

  Then students will be asked if there are some words that they do not know, try to explainsome new words brieflyif there is any.

  By doing these activities, students can develop the skills of skimming and how to gain the main idea ofthe articles.

  Careful reading

  1.Listento the tape and answer some question about “True”or“False”.

  2.Askstudents to read the articles again and explain some important phrases.(hand in...)

  Thepurpose of this part is to develop the skills of scanning and how to gain the details fromthe article.

  Step Ⅳ.Post-reading

  After they have totally understood the passage. Then it’s time to consolidate what we have learned. Here are three tasks in all.

  1.Askstudents to make sentences with phrases that we have learned.

  2.Tryto retell the outline of the articles.

  3.Encouragestudents to say something about themselves.

  Thepurpose is to develop the skills of retelling with the key words

  Step Ⅴ.Summary and homework

  At the end of the class, students will be asked to summarize what we have learned in class, and I give them some complements. Then today’s homework is:

  1.Revise the words and phrases

  2. Write a letter about himself after class.

  Part 7 Blackboard design

  Lastly,I’dlike to talk about my blackboard design. As you can see, It is very clear and logical, students can easily master what we have learned in the class.

  Dear judges, duringmy teaching, I’ll try my best toget my class alive and encourage the students to talk with each other inEnglish. I think the general aim of English teaching is to improve the abilityof using English. And I’ll use this to guide myteaching.Thanks for your listening!
